Chelsea pursued Pittsburgh's only medical-grade, deep red light therapy in the aftermath of a complicated childbirth due to postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), a severe and relatively common complication of childbirth.
Chelsea required multiple surgeries and transfusions and spent considerable time in the intensive care unit. Once released, she found herself juggling trips to the NIC unit to bond with her newborn son and sessions of red-light therapy.
“I was driving to and from the hospital several times a day,” she says. “I had dark bruises over all of my arms … that’s where I saw the immediate benefits of red light. The bruising significantly improved and became lighter the next day.”
Chelsea continued the deep red light therapy at Transformation to support her recovery journey. “What would have taken weeks to heal resolved in a matter of days. I felt like the red light helped me heal,” she says. “And while I had previously experienced postpartum depression, with the red light, I had no issues.”
Along with her physical recovery, Chelsea credits red light therapy and its supportive effects with giving her more time with her newborn in the crucial early bonding period.
